Rebozo Closing Ceremony
”'Closing of the Bones' after birth is often thought to be a Mexican postpartum tradition - using the rebozo (rebozos are shawls – and come in varying lengths & material). Closing of the Bones in Mexico is often called Cerrar la Cadera or a Cerrada (meaning: 'Closing of the Hips' or 'A Closing,' respectively). While Closing of the Bones absolutely has origins in Mexico, it ALSO has origins in Russia and Morocco, amongst many, many other places in the world. “

A Sacred Ritual for Postpartum Healing & Renewal
Bringing a baby into the world is a profound transformation—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The postpartum period deserves just as much care as pregnancy and birth. The Rebozo Closing Ceremony is a deeply restorative, intentional practice designed to honor and nurture your body as you transition into this new chapter of parenthood. After an extended period of being open, open in the body to carry a baby, opening for birth, this closing ceremony communicates closure to the body as it heals.
Who Is This For?
This ceremony is ideal for postpartum parents seeking:
✓ A moment of deep self-care and reflection
✓ Physical and emotional closure after birth
✓ A gentle way to reconnect with your body
✓ A restorative experience in a peaceful, supportive space
✓ A ceremonial experience of honouring yourself

This in-home ceremony is an invitation to reconnect with yourself, embrace healing, and integrate your birthing journey in a safe and sacred space.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
This 2 to 3 hour experience unfolds in four deeply nourishing stages.
-
Your journey begins with a gentle, grounding massage, bringing awareness to the body’s strength and resilience.
This is a time to thank your body for the miracle it has created, allowing you to fully relax and receive.
-
An optional pelvic steaming with a custom herbal blend offers warmth and gentle restoration.
The heart of the ceremony is an herbal ceremonial bath, infused with postpartum-supporting herbs.
While soaking in the healing water, you’ll pour herbal infusions over yourself, offering love and appreciation to the body that grew and birthed life.
-
Five traditional rebozo fabrics are laid out and carefully wrapped around you, section by section.
This practice, known as "closing of the bones," helps the body reintegrate after the expansiveness of pregnancy and birth.
The sensation is like a restorative embrace, offering both physical support and emotional closure.
-
After the ceremony, you will be left with a warm, nourishing meal, carefully prepared to continue the journey of warmth and restoration. This final touch allows you to remain in a state of deep relaxation, fully supported in your postpartum healing.
